To make the DEWA move-in, activation and registration process seamless, follow these clear steps:
For the purposes of this article we are taking an individual tenant as an example.
Step 1: Visit the DEWA Website
Step 2: Go To Activation
Step 3: Choose Customer Type
Step 4: Select Account Type
Step 5: Personal & Contact Details
Enter the following details to register your DEWA account and activate your services!

You will be shown the security deposit and dewa registration fee amounts and breakdowns once you have finished the application:

How to Pay:
Upon payment, DEWA activates service in 15 hours.

Housing Fee:
A 5% Housing Charge (calculated on DEWAs estimation of the annual rent) is included in your DEWA Bill & Statement every month.
DEWA Reconnection:
If you have swapped properties, you will be required to re-register again. Reconnection for properties is never automatic and it is advisable to always undergo the "New Customer in Dubai" process as stated above.

If you are changing apartments or moving into a new villa, you will need to close your current DEWA account (Move-Out) and create a new Move-In request for your new home. Reconnection is not automatic.

When you close your account, DEWA refunds your deposit via bank transfer or cheque.
Tenants simply need their Ejari Certificate, Emirates ID and DEWA Premise number to activate their new DEWA Connection.
2,130/- AED with 2,000/- AED being a Deposit (refundable after deactivation) and 130/- AED being the activation fee.
A 5% Housing Charge (calculated on DEWAs estimation of the annual rent) is included in your DEWA Bill & Statement every month. This is prorated over 12 months and is billed to you every month.
For example if the annual rent is considered to be 100,000/- AED by DEWA, they will charge 5,000/- AED (5%) as housing fee across the year, which is roughly 416.68 AED per month.
DEWA bills can be paid via the DEWA App, at DEWA customer service centers and online through the pay for a friend option (account number required).
While the monthly bills can vary drastically depending on season and consumption, a good average to take as standard for a 1-Bedroom Apartment in Dubai is approximately 640/- AED per month.
Activation usually takes place within 15 working hours of payment.
Yes. DEWA is linked to Ejari, and an Ejari certificate is required for move-in requests.
On your Ejari certificate, utility meter, or door frame of your property.
You must close your current account (Move-Out) and submit a new Move-In application for the new property.
